The Last and Most Expensive Birthday!

Since our last entry was about birthdays we might as well finish off the birthday updates and then we'll go back to Christmas!

I turned 36 on Monday and in my usual fashion stretched out my birthday as long as possible. It all started on Friday when Grandma and Grandpa came to get the kids and kept them until Saturday. This meant an uninterrupted day full of all kinds of plans. Michael had the day off and I envisioned shopping, errands, more shopping, more errands, dinner, some more shopping, and a movie! Well after a leisurely bagel and coffee we started with errand #1....head to Drew Ford and take a test drive in order to get our $75 gift card.

Now we are not one of those crazy couples who goes all over the place doing odd things to get coupons and free stuff. We knew this was the year we were going to need a new car (the Explorer had a slipping transmission and 130K miles) and after a day at the auto show we narrowed down our choices. We might as well make some money and drive one that we wanted to try out anyway! We arrived at the dealer at around 10:00 and a mere 8 hours later drove away in our new Expedition. Since I have the kids and all the junk I will be driving it most of the time so.......Happy Birthday to me!

Not exactly an impulse buy but more like a deal that couldn't be passed up. The Expedition is a 2007 and was sitting in the used lot with only 980 miles on it, yep that's right only NINE HUNDRED! Since it was used we somehow managed to save $14,000 and get a used (NEW if you ask me) SUV fully loaded for less than the stripped down models. This is by far the fanciest car we've ever owned.

Needless to say we got nothing else accomplished that day but I did manage to sneak in a nice dinner and movie. With a new car that will probably be the last dinner or movie of the year! Nor will I be doing much of that shopping I was so looking forward to. I did spend the rest of the weekend peeking out the window to look at the new car since we can't afford the gas it will take to drive it anywhere. :-)

Lovingly referred to as "THE BUS", it has 3 rows of seats and can fit 8 people very comfortably. Guess who the new designated drivers will be.
You needed to see the back.

No eating, drinking, or breathing while riding in the new car! If I get my way those 12 cupholders will never be used.

A lot of fancy stuff we didn't need but it came with it. I can navigate myself all over the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. We won't be driving to Puerto Rico anytime soon/ever!

This is the second row, there's another one just like it in the back!
