Camping With Grandma and Grandpa

The last weekend in September is the Lake Cuyamaca Fishing Derby. Last year Grandma and Grandpa took Jacob and this year Livie got to go too. It's a fun time for the kids who get to spend quality time in the outdoors and Mom and Dad have a weekend on their own!
Jessica drove the kids up to the lake on Friday after school and they didn't come back until Sunday afternoon. The kids had a fun time fishing but sadly they only caught one fish the entire time. Before you feel too sorry for them it turns out that one lone fish Jacob caught was the first place prize winner in his age division! Yea Jacob. Olivia was happy with her goody bag and she even won a raffle prize. While they were off fishing Mom and Dad went to a charity fundraiser for school, had a last minute garage sale, cleaned out the garage, had a fancy dinner out, and got to sleep in! We were all winners!

Livie and Jacob all set up for fishing.

Happy campers!

Jacob with his prize winning rainbow trout. That's his new rod, reel, and tackle box that he was given as the first place prize. He also got a plaque to hang on the wall.

Baseball Again?

Jacob loved playing tee ball so much that when he found out there was also a winter league he wanted to play again. We are so glad he's found something that he really enjoys doing. He is now playing Minor B baseball, which means harder rules, bigger field, and a pitching machine. Winter Ball is much more casual than the spring season so it's a great chance for Jacob to learn the rules and get more practice. He's on the Mariners and he'll be playing every Sunday until Thanksgiving!
